History

In 2003, Peter Cottreau was hired as the Director of Electronics and Software in the Ottawa offices of Picarro Inc (the company headquarters were in Santa Clara CA). In 2006, when Peter learned that the Ottawa operations were going to be shut down, he decided that, after 20+ years in the industry most in senior management roles, it was time to start his own company. He recruited the most talented members of his (laid-off) design team and founded Ashton Electronic Systems. Within a short time, they were delivering completed projects to their first customers.

Since then, the company has grown gradually and strategically, using retained earnings to fund its expansion. Ashton Electronic Systems is a privately owned Canadian corporation with no venture capital investment and no significant debt.
