Embedded Software Developers

We're looking for embedded software developers with Linux experience to expand our our team of technical experts. Your role will include designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining embedded software solutions. You'll also be contributing to the continued success of our growing company.

You must be a highly-motivated, responsible, high-caliber software designer with:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
  • A proven track record developing embedded software solutions
  • At least three years experience with object-oriented design & C++ programming in a Linux environment (QNX would be an asset)
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills and a ferocious desire to "get things right by design"

You must also have strong interpersonal and organizational skills and must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and spoken English.

Junior Software Developers

We have immediate opportunities for junior developers and/or new grads to work with our highly-talented team of technical experts on cutting-edge projects. Your role will include designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining embedded software solutions. You'll also be contributing to the continued success of our growing company

You must have graduated from one of the following disciplines:

  • Computer Science/Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Software Engineering

You must be a highly-motivated, responsible, high-caliber software designer with relevant work and/or co-op experience in at least one of the following areas:

  • C/C++
  • UNIX/Linux
  • Networking
  • Object Oriented Design
  • IP Networking
  • Embedded Development

Embedded Linux Driver/Kernel IPV6 Developer

Job Posting Date: October 19, 2011
Term: Contract, 3 months, 40 hrs per week (Mon-Fri)
Location: Kanata ON

Ashton Electronic Systems needs an experienced embedded software/firmware developer to join our team. You must have experience in Linux driver and kernel development for proprietary embedded systems.

Our immediate need is to implement IPV6 on an existing embedded Linux system. (We designed the hardware, software, and ported Linux but currently only IPV4 is supported.)

You'll be expected to

  • review the requirements,
  • select a suitable IPV6 implementation from the available open source Linux solutions,
  • port that design to a new kernel to support our proprietary target hardware,
  • create a test plan,
  • execute the test plan on real hardware in our lab,
  • document the test results,
  • remotely assist with transferring new software load to our client, and
  • remotely assist our client as they complete their quality assurance testing on the new load.

There is a good opportunity for conversion to full-time employment once this contract has been successfully completed.

You will be located in our office just off March Rd. in Kanata, near Alcatel. Bus service is available if you need it.
